The house sits in one and half acres of landscaped gardens, which is ablaze with colour during spring and summer and benefits from a large private parking area.
All rooms are double-bedded, individually furnished and fully en-suite with colour TV, and hospitality trays, and the house has free WIFI.
The entire house is strictly non-smoking. A modern smoke and heat detection system is fitted throughout. The village has a bistro, two pubs and two restaurants. One Indian and one French.
Our location is equidistant between Eastbourne & Bexhill approx 20 mins, Brighton 40 mins, Glyndbourne Opera House 30 mins, and London Gatwick Airport 50 mins.
Rates for 2009 are from £65.00 per room (max 2 people sharing) fully inclusive of English breakfast and VAT.

Cleavers Lyng is a privately owned grade II listed Country Guesthouse of considerable character and charm, with a history dating back to 1577. The original part of the house was built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to which the oak beams and inglenook fireplace in the breakfast area bear witness.
Set amidst elegant gardens ablaze with colour during the spring and summer months, Cleavers Lyng offers glorious views across unspoilt Sussex countryside. Our 1 and half of landscaped gardens have a wealth of birds and wildlife and are secluded and very peaceful. We have plenty of off road private parking. All of our bedrooms have double beds and modern en-suite facilities, along with hospitality tray, remote control colour TV and free WIFI connection.
For those that just like to relax and unwind away from the urban clamour we have plenty of comfortable seating in our downstairs lounge area. Games and cards are also available. Herstmonceux Village is situated on the A271, which is 1.5 miles distant, and has a bistro, an Indian and French Restaurant, two pubs and a number of shops. Further a field the cosmopolitan town of Eastbourne with its modern Marina or its older town with its Victorian pier and promenade and numerous shops, varied eating-places and quaint Theatres are some 20 mins drive. Brighton is now only 35 mins with the new bypass, which has just been completed. An Ideal base for exploring 1066 country. Cleaves Lyng is adjacent to the West gate of historic Herstmonceux Castle and gardens an only a few miles from Battle Abbey, scene of King Harold's famous defeat by the Normans. The Castle of Pevensey, Lewes and Hastings are also close by, as is Bateman’s home of Rudyard Kipling. Charleston Farm House home of the Bloomsbury set, the group of artists, writers and intellectuals that included Virginia Woolf, and the beautiful Tudor moated Michelham Priory are just a few of the very many interesting places to visit. For nature lovers Arlington Reservoir is great place to relax enjoy and to watch nature go by or to take a long walk. The famous seven sisters and Beachy Head are another couple of great walks that can be taken in this area of outstanding natural beauty. WE have something hear to offer everyone of all ages.
